The Day After Ragnarok: One Snake Cult, One Ranger
Film mogul, aircraft designer, engineer, industrialist, and eccentric, Howard Hughes (b. 1905) may be the richest man in what’s left of the world. Hughes Aircraft and Hughes Tool Co. lead the aircraft and oilfield equipment sectors, both among the few bright spots on the economic horizon. Hughes owns the movie studio RKO and the airline TWA; his Howard Hughes Herpetic Institute is the largest private-sector ophitech research company in the world. Hughes mostly lives in Los Angeles, but has of late been seen flying one of his private planes to his offices in Houston with greater frequency; his political connections in Texas are almost as good as the ones he has in L.A.
Though horrified by the destruction the Midgard Serpent brought, Hughes is fascinated by the potential of ophitech and is one of the world’s leading experts on the subject. He has created several uses for ophitech in medicine, weaponry, and transportation through his labs in Houston. He maintains a smaller, cutting edge research facility in Corpus Christi where there are fewer prying eyes about.
